In Early march, Pokey, the owner of the Club 400 in Waukesha where Les Paul used to play, ignited a spark, which got me started on the process of putting Les on canvas. By the time Les Paul came to Milwaukee in late June, the painting was finished, photographed and giclee prints produced. I was invited to be a part of a video that was put together for an evening celebration for Les's 93rd birthday. On the video, I was able to extend a birthday wish and explain the painting and the methods behind my madness. I also got into the Schwartz Bookstore on Downer and the original became the backdrop to the book signing. I was honored to have Les sign the original, and then later, sign four prints. I was additionally thrilled to be able to present Les with the framed #1 print from the print edition. The Club 400 now has a signed Les Paul print hanging in their collection of memorabilia. |
