Snow Sculpting: the act of transforming a large block of very dense snow into a work of art.

I first started snow sculpting in 1994 on the invite from two good friends, we learned as we went, and had a lot of fun doing it. Over the years the team members have changed, evolving into seperate teams, morphing into a father, daughter, son team, reuniting with former teammates, and often, we all find ourselves competing in competions against each other. Most of the works shown below are from the State Competition in the Wisconsin Dells. 2007 found us as the WI State Champs.

FAQ: Teams are made up of three people. Depending on the event, two or three days & nights are allowed for completion and blocks are usually 6'x 6' wide x 8' high. The best temps for the sculptors and the snow seem to be single digets to twenty degrees.

It's a good workout, and always worth the effort.

Enjoy the photos!
